You do not need to see your doctor first if you are paying for your own treatment. However, some insurance companies require you to see your doctor first.

Usually wearing loose fitting clothing (such as a t-shirt and shorts) will be fine, however, much like a visit to a GP or other medical professional, to examine/treat you effectively it may be necessary to ask you to remove some clothing as appropriate for the condition. Sometimes the cause of the problem may be in a different area to the pain, (for example, a difference in leg length may result in compensations in the upper back which might result in neck pain) so we may need to examine your whole body.

This can sometimes mean undressing down to your underwear, so please wear something you are comfortable in. If this is a problem for you then let us know and we will try to make arrangements that make you more comfortable.

Yes if you wish, you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment. Children under 16 should always be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Some treatment may cause discomfort. We will tell you what to expect and will want you to let us know if you are in pain. You may also feel stiff or sore after the session, but this is typically a normal healthy response to receiving hands-on treatment.

Back pain has been shown to be the leading cause of disability globally, which means it’s by far the most common thing our patients come to see us for.

Osteopaths however treat the whole body which means we also help people with other areas of discomfort including neck pain, migraine prevention, shoulder pain, sciatica, tennis elbow, hip pain and knee pain. Our massage therapist also treat a wide variety of aches and pains. You can click on the ‘Conditions‘ tab in the main menu to see a more detailed breakdown of other common things we treat.

If you’re not sure whether you want to book in, why not arrange a free phone consultation by clicking here and we can discuss your symptoms in more detail.

You can book in using the online booking form and select a time that’s convenient to you. Alternatively you can call us directly using the contact information available here.

If you haven’t been to see us before or are unsure about which treatment would be best for you, then I would suggest booking in a free 20 minute telephone consultation with us so that we can learn a little more about your problem before your first visit. Similarly, you can do this by calling us up directly or using the same online booking form.
